Time flies! It feels like we just jumped into autumn, and now December is around the corner - a busy yet enjoyable month! It evokes sweet associations about being with family and loved ones, cozy evenings together, but inevitably also about Christmas fever.
"With all that's going on, it's easy to start feeling stressed and anxious" - our inspirational health coach Evelina Kasinskaja describes the mood of this period. This period is full of chaos and sometimes it's hard for people to control their emotions and thoughts. We are all in a rush, bustling, handling more tasks than hours in a day - feeling a lot of anxiety. This stress can really challenge our nervous system.
Today, Evelina shared tips to find peace in December with proven methods from planning to breathing practices. These tips from Evelina can greatly reduce the stress that peaks in December.
Make a gift list
Effortlessly plan ahead for gift giving to whom you want and what you want. In this way, you will avoid stress, unplanned purchases and it will be much easier to follow your budget. In addition, by planning in advance, you will have more time to find the best gift, "catch" a good discount, as a result, you will have bought a valuable gift for the same budget, and you can give yourself something meaningful and dreamy from the saved amount. Perhaps it will be a piece of jewelry, perfume, a linen shirt, linen blanket, which you will always have something to wear when you put it in your closet, linen dress that you have been dreaming about since last summer. Take it as a reward for your efforts.
Make an action plan
Try to predict in advance what the most important work you have to do, what you absolutely need to finish before the holidays. Feel free to write down to the smallest details, this way you will feel much more relaxed that you will not forget anything. It's true, don't sign up for tasks that simply can't be done in one month (like building a house), because that way you'll only stress yourself out even more.
Consider your desired appearance and the perfect location to revel in the most exquisite holidays of the year
Imagine the holiday you truly desire by being selfish in your choices. With this vision in mind, talk to your loved ones and you may be able to find a middle ground to meet everyone's needs. Consider your festive looks for Christmas dinner, Christmas lunch, festive gatherings with relatives and friends. It could be a two-piece suit, a combination of shirt and skirt, or limited-edition, exclusive linen dresses with prints created by the Grand Duchess with a unique story. I adore clothes that not only make me feel comfortable, beautiful, but are also unique and reveal my values.
Plan your holiday menu and prepare your shopping list
Consider adding easy recipes to the holiday menu to avoid extra temptations, while still being delicious.
Take a moment to pause and breathe
If the plans you made still start to slip out of your hands and the rising stress reaches its Everest, stop and try to calm down. Allow yourself to consciously focus and breathe. I invite you to try breathing practices that I call diaphragmatic breathing, the 4-7-8 method and square breathing. I will tell you a little more about them.
Diaphragmatic breathing
When inhaling, we slowly fill our stomach like a balloon and say to ourselves "here", and when we exhale, our stomach contracts again and mentally or aloud we say "now". Such a technique can help you calm down, remind you that you are in the moment.
4-7-8 method
It is a relaxation exercise that consists of different durations of inhalation and exhalation. Exhale completely through your mouth, close it, and inhale quietly through your nose to the count of four. Hold your breath for seven seconds and exhale through your mouth for a count of eight. Repeat at least 4-5 times. Such an exercise can be a great help in falling asleep.
Square breathing
This is a practice where we visualize a square in our mind and draw its edge with each inhale and exhale. This is a time-tested method that will help you relax more easily. And if you want to strengthen the effect, then in addition to the breathing exercise, I suggest adding essential oil practices. Just a few drops on your palms is enough. In the morning, it is best to choose citrus or spicy scents. It can help you wake up better, get in the mood for the day, and increase your energy level and concentration. Well, for relaxation, I recommend choosing lavender, bergamot or mandarin scents.
Pay attention to the skin, which also needs to breathe. Let's choose sustainable clothes that allow the skin to breathe, let's feel the touch of linen on our skin: when rushing, running, stopping, sleeping or doing breathing exercises. Such simple steps will help you enjoy this cozy period. The latter can and must be great and pleasant for you!
